Musical Banig Pattern

It was the last quarter of 2013 and the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) was about to embark on its Winter Tour across the US. For their souvenir program, they needed a motif that would resonate with their mainly Filipino audiences. It also had to be colorful and loud in true Chorus spirit.

We decided to use the banig, a traditional form of weaving. We knew that the Department of Tourism's successful It's More Fun in The Philippines campaign had done something similar and UPCC, as a Filipino touring group, wanted that recall. When they performed, it would be part of the It's More Fun experience.

This is my version of the digital banig--with a musical spin.

The Process:
1.) Playing with different styles

2.) Selecting a style

3.) Refining the design
4.) Repeating the pattern
